Hello there, New to Christianity? Want to know more about Christians and their lifestyle — no time to worry then because you are at the right place and at the perfect time. Why perfect time? Well, let me clear you one thing, guys, if you are new to Christianity, then you should know this: God has a plan for each one of us, and he knows when to execute that plan into our lives. You are here according to his plan, you have not chosen him, but he already chose you.

Here I’m going to introduce you to every essential detail about Christianity, and I will tell you what changes you should make to your life so that you can draw yourself near to God. Also, I will tell you some crucial points that you should know before entering into Christianity. So without making any further delay, let’s directly roll into the content.

Okay, so these are the points/questions that we are going to discuss:

1. What is Christianity?

2. Why do we pray in the name of Jesus Christ?

3. What is the Holy Spirit?

4. What is the Cross?

5. Habits that every Christians must follow.

1. What is Christianity?

First of all, Christianity is not just a religion; It is a relationship. It’s a relationship between you and the living God. Bible says there is only one Living God, and God sent his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to Earth to pay for our sins so that whosoever believes in him and follows him will not have to pay for their sins.

So what Christians means? Christians are the people who follow Jesus Christ. There’s a verse in the Bible that says, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” And thus, being a Christian means denying our selfish pleasures, denying our selfish desires, dying for self, and dying for sins but living for the only Living God Jesus Christ.

Now Living for Jesus does not have to mean that you should stop living your life; you should stop enjoying your life. But it means to live your life by maintaining a faithful relationship with the Living God.

Christianity promotes humanity, being kind, loving each other, helping the poor and needy ones, and living life purely without committing any sins; these are teachings given in Christianity. But more than that, it connects your soul to the Spirit of God; it helps you grow spiritually. So once you started following Jesus Christ and maintaining a relationship with God, expect the miracles to happen into your lives, expect the power of God to touch you. Because this is what Christianity is, and this is what being a Christian is.

2. Why do we pray in the name of Jesus Christ?

When I was new to Christianity, I have heard people praying, and all their prayers ended with “in Jesus’ Name” or “through Jesus we pray,” so I thought it is just a finishing phrase. But as I grow up in Christianity, I understood that it isn’t just a finishing phrase, but it is done for a purpose.

So what is the purpose in saying that? Don’t worry; you will get it by yourself as you read further.

First, let’s have a look at what Bible says about it. In John chapter 14 verse 6, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” So here, Jesus mentioned that the only way to reach the Father is through Jesus Christ himself. In no other way, your prayers can reach the Father except through him.

Now we have the answer for why we pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Because he is the only way, and without his name, our prayers can’t reach God. But wait, Do you wonder why can’t we directly Pray to the Father? Why is Jesus the only way to reach the Father?

To know the answer to those questions in a better way, I will take you in Jesus’ time.

In the present time, we all know that God sent his only begotten Son, Jesus, so that he can save our lives. But in the time of Jesus, some people opposed Jesus and disrespect him because he called himself Son of God. They were not ready to accept the truth that Jesus is the Son of God and God sent him to save our lives.

And if anyone denies Jesus Christ means he denies our Father in Heaven. The same is written in 1 John 2:23 “Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father, He that confesseth the Son, hath the Father also.” so this means there is no way that we can reach the Father if we deny the Son, the only way to get God is Jesus Christ. And therefore, whatever we ask Father in Jesus’ name he gives us. Let us read this from the Bible, John 14:13–14 “And whatsoever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” So this is why we always pray to Father in Jesus’ name.

3. What is the Holy Spirit?

Edited by Priyank Moon

It might be difficult for God to be with everyone and every time, but he can never leave us alone. So even though he has his eyes upon us and he knows anything and everything about us, He wants us to feel His presence with us. And for that, God has his divine angels; those divine angels that God sent to each one of us are our Holy Spirit.

Now, You might be thinking, what is the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives? Why do we need the Holy Spirit? So let me clear this thing for you.

You might not know, but some power works in your life when you are not into holiness, and that power will push you towards sin; it will try to break you and make you feel sad or demotivated in your life. You can not fight with that power by yourself because it controls you, and you need another guider/helper that will fight from your side, and that guider’s name is Holy Spirit.

This is the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. And not only this, but the Holy Spirit will guide you in all matters of your life, it will help you make the right decisions into your life, and it will remind you of the words that God has given you.

Let me show the verse from the Bible that tells you about the Holy Spirit. In John chapter 14:16, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.”

When you get the Holy Spirit, you also get the gifts of the Spirit, and the assistance of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, which will make your life better. And will lead you to grow into your life spiritually and personally. And this is why we all need Holy Spirit in our lives.

4. What is the Cross?

We all have seen the Cross into the Church or in the School, but very few of us know the Cross’s real meaning. When I wasn’t into Christianity, I used to consider the Cross as a symbol of Christianity. But now, I will describe to you the real purpose of the Cross.

Let me start with the very beginning; in the time of Christ, the Cross was considered to be frivolous, and it was used to punish the sinners, those who were proven guilty of their sin were crucified on the Cross till death and the death on the Cross was considered to be an insignificant death.

Jesus Christ was never proven guilty of any sin, but also he was crucified on the Cross. Now you might be thinking, if Jesus can do miracles, then why didn’t he saved himself from being crucified on the Cross? That’s because it was supposed to happen. God sent him with a purpose: to save us and take up all our miseries, all our problems, all our shames, all our sins, all our diseases, and make us free from all that by dying on the Cross.

Jesus suffered for our sins, and his blood on the Cross has washed away all our sins and make us pure. His death on the Cross has taken all our problems, miseries, shame, and diseases and has made us free from that. And whosoever will look at the Cross and believe that all our problems are taken away by the death of Jesus on the Cross will be free from his problems.

That is why the Cross in Christianity holds great importance, and it is considered a sign of freedom. Freedom from our sins, freedom from our diseases, freedom from our miseries.

5. Habits that every Christians must follow.

Now we are at this stage where we know who God is; we know how much he loves us and what sacrifice he has done for our sake to show his love for us. We know how Jesus suffer for our sins to make our life better.

So, after all this God has done for us, now it’s our turn to show that we love him for everything he has done for us. And we are willing to do things that please him.

So here is the list of habits that every Christian must practise regularly:

  • Worshipping God, so that we can Glorify his name.
  • Praying regularly,
  • to maintain the personal relationship with living God.
  • Bible reading, to get to know more about the works of God and to get the answer from God ( God speaks to us through verses in the Bible )
  • Attending Church, Church is the only place where you can feel God’s presence, worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry.
  • Fasting, Remember we don’t owe anything to God, but still, he gives everything we ask to him in Jesus’ name. So we need to do the fast to please him and show him that we are thirsty for the things we are asking him in the Prayer.

So these are the five essential habits that every Christians must follow to draw themselves near to God. As we follow all these habits and commit no sins, we are pleasing to God, and thus we can get spiritual and real-life blessings from God. Because he is the God that has given us everything until now, he still wants to provide us with more blessings so that we can live in his Grace forever.

On the whole, we have covered almost every essential detail about Christianity. For example, I explained why we need to maintain a relationship with God rather than just praying to him; because Jesus never meant to create a religion, he came to teach us the meaning of relationship not only with God but with everyone. He teaches us the way to live life. Also, I cleared your doubt on why we use Jesus’ name to pray to God and why Jesus is the only way to reach God. I introduced the Holy Spirit to you, explained its role in our life, and why we need Holy Spirit, I also told you about the nine fruits of Spirit that we get when we have the Holy Spirit with us. And I took you to the time of Christ where we discussed Cross and I explained the real meaning and importance of the Cross in Christianity. And in the end, I mentioned all the essential habits that every Christian must follow regularly.
